3 Exciting and Easy Rock Songs You Can Learn Today

Rock songs!

Everyone loves learning new songs on guitar - it's basically the point of playing, isn't it? The problem is, lots of the songs we want to learn are too difficult.

There's always a fast riff or deceptively hard chord change to contend with, and it can be really demotivating.

That's why I put together this quick article with three fun, easy rock songs for you to learn. They shouldn't take long to master, and they sound great!

If you like this list then check out this article. It features a whopping 53 easy-to-play rock songs from The Rolling Stones, Free, Cream, Metallica, Kaiser Chiefs, Ghost, and a whole load more great artists!

You Really Got Me - The Kinks

This is a classic song that's full of attitude. To get the right tone, add just a little bit of gain to your signal - but not too much! Of course, you could always to what Dave Davies did and take a razor blade to your speaker cone, but I wouldn't recommend it.

You Really Got Me part 1

You Really Got Me part 2

So there are all of the parts to the song - but how do you put them together? Easy - play them in this order:

Riff 1 x6, riff 2 x2, riff 3 x3, turnaround

Then you play this, which is similar but slightly different:

Riff 1 x4, riff 2 x2, riff 3 x3, turnaround

Then comes the guitar solo, after which you can play this:

Riff 1 x4, riff 2 x2, riff 3 x3, ending.

Iron Man - Black Sabbath

With an iconic intro and one of the most recognisable riffs of the century, this is a must-learn for any rock guitar player. The noise in the intro is played by plucking the low E string, then bending it behind the nut. Try it!

Here's the tab:

Black Sabbath Iron Man part 1

Black Sabbath Iron Man part 2

Black Sabbath Iron Man part 3

Black Sabbath Iron Man part 4

The structure for this song is quite involved, but take it a bit at a time and you'll have it memorised in no time:

Intro noise x3, riff 1 x2, verse x2, riff 1, verse x2, riff 2

Once you've memorised that, learn this:

Riff 1 x2, verse x2, chorus, bridge x2, chorus, bridge x2

Riff 1 x2, verse x2, chorus, bridge x2, chorus, bridge x2

And then play these parts:

solo riff x2, solo, solo riff x2, bridge x4, riff 1 x2, verse x2, riff 2

Before ending with this:

Intro noise x3, ending riff x2, solo, ending riff x3, finish.

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes

The first song I ever learned, twelve years ago! It's great - quick to learn, easy to play, and fun to rock out to. The solo in this song is pretty easy, so have a go at figuring it out if you feel up to it.

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes part 1

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes part 2

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes part 3

The structure for this song is dead easy; here it is:

Verse x12, pre-chorus, chorus x2, post-chorus

Then play this:

Verse x12, pre-chorus, chorus x4, post-chorus

And finally end with this:

Verse x12, pre-chorus, chorus x2, end
