Byron Marks, is a guitarist and teacher from Manchester, New Hampshire.
Byron started playing guitar at the age of 13, and like many other players at the time, guitar players such as Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Van Halen, Vinnie Moore and Eric Johnson had a heavy influence on him.
"Over the next several years my focus stared to drift away from heavy, guitar oriented music and more towards soul and funk. Artist like Lenny Kravitz, Prince, James Brown, George Clinton and Rick James were big influences and I also admired the fact that they played multiple instruments and in some cases (Lenny Kravitz and Prince), played all the instruments on their records. I was also getting away from the standard power chords and adding jazzier extensions, which enabled me to expand my chord vocabulary as well as the ability to better express myself."
