So you have come back for another jam-packed guitar lesson? Well, I commend you on your bravery and dedication. With this lesson I am going to back track a bit and revisit he everyone’s favorite scale: the Mighty Pentatonic Scale.
You know a couple basics Pentatonic shapes so far, and I would like to show you the rest in an effort to fill in the gaps. Lets face it; you want to be able to soar up and down the neck of the guitar as notes of fury spring from your axe. So in this lesson I will show you the 5 Minor Pentatonic Shapes. Prepare yourself young lads.
So I will show you the shape of each box and then as the notes of a scale. I am a visual learner and I am hoping that the box illustrations help you visualize things a little better. As E Minor is the coolest of all keys, I will begin with E Minor Pentatonic:

You will notice that these boxes overlap at certain points. I recommend that you practice each box individually until you can fret them with ease, and then start to link the boxes together. This technique will become easier with time, but you have to stick with it. Your first endeavors may be boring and not exactly musical, but fret not; you will be blazing up and down the fretboard in no time.
